- Steve Hackett & Steve Rothery The Roaring Waves
- Two guitar greats from the prog world combine for their first album together. Expect greatness and achingly beautiful guitar solos.
- Mastodon Marrow Deep
- Big riffs, crushing in parts. It’s Mastodon. It’s great!
- Prince Timeless
- Ten rare and unreleased studio tracks from the genius that is Prince. His unreleased material is better than some artists’ released output. Milking it? Possibly. Worth it? Definitely.
- Russian Circles Nine
- Superb epic heavy instrumental post-metal/post-rock. Russian Circles do this stuff so well. Highly recommend them.
- The Warning Everything’s Falling
- Excellent, catchy hard rock from the Mexican sister trio. They out-rock a lot of their male peers, and they have better tunes. Definitely worth a listen.
- Pulp Live!
- Live recording of the O2 London show on the tour to accompany the band’s More album. Sing along to their hits along with several thousand in the audience!
Releases for 21 August 2026
- Weezer Weezer
- Self-titled as always, but known by the colour of the album – Gold. Sounds like Weezer, no new ground being broken here, but why fix something that isn’t broken!
- Antony Szmierek Decoding Birdsong
- Electronic and spoken word. Works well. Almost ’90s dance/rave music in feel.
- Fletchr Fletchr On the Island We Call Home
- One of the band is the nephew of one of our customers, Steve. Indie rock, but definitely not indie land-fill. Liking the two tracks available. Catchy.
- Robyn Hitchcock The Confuser
- There are some good tracks on his 25th solo album, and I can see it being played a lot in the shop. Art rock, hints of the Stones, hints of Lennon.
- Westside Cowboy It Goes On
- Got a few orders for this one. Alternative rock with an Americana feel. I’ve seen it described as Britannicana – not sure that’s necessary. Unsurprisingly, better than the Strokes.
- CSS Cansei De Ser Sexy (20th anniversary edition)
- From Brazil. Lots going on. Funky in parts, with rock, electro, a few kitchen sinks. Frankly it’s wonderful. Why have I never heard it before??
Releases for 14 August 2026
- Phoebe Bridgers Lost Weekend
- Seems to be a bit of a buzz around this third album from the singer-songwriter, and the track available is pretty good.
- Carly Simon Comes in Waves
- New music from Carly Simon. It’s been a while! This is currently only available on CD.
- Jungle Sunshine
- Well-crafted soulful pop songs with some great bass lines. Tunes for the summer.
- Kris Barras Band Monsters We Made
- Catchy riffs and solos from the UK rockers. Getting a Shinedown feel on some of the songs.
- Laura Veirs Temple Songs
- Her first new album in four years was written, recorded, arranged, produced and performed entirely by Laura herself. I like the two tracks available for listening. Indie-style folk.
- Sound Quelle Higher Note
- An electronic/ambient dance album, again with that summery sound. Better than the Strokes…
Releases for 7 August 2026
- The Anchoress As We Once Were
- At last, the long-awaited follow-up to 2021’s The Art of Losing, which was a great album. I’ve seen her live a couple of times and I’m looking forward to this one. I’ve deliberately held off listening to anything from it so far, so you will just have to trust my judgement!
- Steve Hogarth Ice Cream Genius
- The first and only solo album from the Marillion front-man – one of my favourite vocalists from one of my favourite bands – gets a welcome reissue. I was never not going to include this. First time on vinyl, and the CD + Blu-ray box set contains live gigs and loads of unreleased material.
- Man/Woman/Chainsaw Cannonball
- The debut album from this up-and-coming band has been getting a lot of attention in all the right places.
- Katatonia The Fall of Hearts (10th Anniversary Edition)
- A lovely reissue from the Swedish prog-metal titans. Absolutely love Jonas’ voice. I’ll be seeing them live this weekend in Halifax! Great music for the dark autumn nights, when they come.
- Mountain Goats The Days
- Another new album from Mountain Goats – the last one was only November! That isn’t necessarily a bad thing, though, and the three tracks currently available are all catchy three-minute songs.
- Neil Jones & Nick Corbin Silent Stream
- Soulful jazz. Great for this weather! I’m getting a Weller feel from the tracks available.
Releases for 31 July 2026
- The Durutti Column Renascent
- The first new studio album in 15 years from Vini Reilly and co. is a welcome return, awash with lush sounds. The band have also recently reissued several albums from their wonderful back catalogue.
- Mansun Attack of the Grey Lantern
- A half-speed master reissue of the band’s 1997 debut during all that Britpop shizz. This is one of my favourite albums – so, so much better than anything else from that era. Do I need another copy? Silly question.
- Lucia & The Best Boys Picking Petals
- New to me, but they’ve been around for nearly 20 years. Really like what I’ve heard so far: it includes collaborations with Lauren from CHVRCHES and Abigail from The Last Dinner Party, which may give you an insight into the sound. Toured with Garbage, which again comes across on a couple of songs. Give it a listen.
- Orgone New You
- Reissue of 2013 album from the soul/funk outfit, which has never been available on vinyl until now. Funky and groovy as hell! You will tap your feet along.
- Shearwater The New World
- This is great: Laid-back indie rock with vocals reminiscent of Edwyn Collins.
- Steve Hackett Genesis Revisited
- This excellent 1997 album resurrected Steve Hackett’s career from small clubs to major theatres, playing the Genesis back catalogue he was involved in. A welcome reissue for reimagined versions of classics featuring prog alumni such as John Wetton, Bill Bruford and Tony Levin.

- The Strokes Reality Awaits
- This has been a popular pre-order: new music from The Strokes. Rick Rubin produced. 2 tracks available so far. I can hear that horrible autotune vocal. I’m out. Sorry!
- Ancient Infinity Orchestra It’s All About Liberation
- Spiritual jazz sounds from the Leeds ensemble. Being sixteen(!) of them, there’s a lot going on. 2 tracks available so far, both better than The Strokes.
- Charli XCX Music Fashion Film
- Pop royalty back with a new album. 3 tracks available, all less than 3 minutes. Catchy. All better than The Strokes.
- John Martyn One World
- Welcome reissue of a John Martyn classic. So much better than The Strokes.
- Sooj Crusher
- 10 songs, 27 minutes. Chilled, relaxing tunes. A great summery soundtrack. Collaboration between Duster and Dirty Art Club. Really like what I’ve heard. This should really be release of the week instead of The Strokes.

- Yes Live at Roosevelt Stadium Jersey City NJ 6/17/76
- I love Yes. I love ’70s Yes. This is a live statement from the Patrick Moraz era, with a great set list.
- The Waterboys Atlantic Rain: The Lost Fisherman’s Blues Recordings
- Massively expanded with tracks recently revisited by Mike Scott and many lost tracks added. A well put together package.
- Gracie Abrams Daughter from Hell
- Toured with Taylor Swift, and will be popular from that.
- Primus A Handful of Nuggs
- A 12" release for a new Primus song. Expect it to be bonkers and bass-heavy.
- Yard Act You’re Gonna Need a Little Music
- Not for me, but what do I know! The RSD lot have chosen it as their album of the month for July.
- Mama Terra Inner Space
- A bit jazzy, a bit soulful, a bit funky, a bit good.

- Rolling Stones Foreign Tongues
- Mick ’n’ Keef ’n’ Ronnie are back with a new album – their 25th! This one has been popular on pre-orders, and the lead tracks so far are very promising. Mick doesn’t sound at all like he is in his 80s.
- Jack White Frozen Charlotte
- Another popular pre-order.
- St. Vincent & Jules Buckley Live in London! (BBC Proms at The Royal Albert Hall)
- St. Vincent with Jules Buckley and Orchestra performing at the BBC Proms where songs from her back catalogue have been reimagined for the occasion. Impressive.
- King Crimson 2014 NYC
- The mighty three-drummer version of King Crimson live from NYC in 2014. I saw the lineup a year later in Brighton – that was phenomenal so this should be too.
- The Specials Live from the Cathedral
- Final release of music from the Specials, apparently. Recorded during a run of shows in 2019 at Coventry Cathedral. The hits are all there.
- Nils Petter Molvaer Be Quiet
- This sounds like it should be interesting. Renowned trumpeter and producer. Electronica, ambient textures and jazz improvisation all feature. John Paul Jones and Imogen Heap help out.

- Deep Purple Splat!
- 2026 Deep Purple sounding like ’70s Deep Purple – and there’s nothing wrong with that!
- Mary in the Junkyard Role Model Hermit
- I’ve heard great things about this band from those who attended the recent Wunderlust Festival in Southampton. This debut album is highly anticipated.
- Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan People & Industry (Special Edition)
- I know a few people who have been after this for a while. This special deluxe edition includes four tracks not released on vinyl before. Their last album was a good seller in here, and rightly so. Excellent electronic goodness.
- Madonna Confessions II
- The Queen of Pop returns with a new, dance-oriented, album. Get your disco shoes on and off you go.
